Our Journey spanned 150 miles over a three day period (on average ~50 miles per day).

We began our cycle from our Seattle apartment and made our way to the infamous Burke Gilman Trail before splitting off to catch the Mukilteo Ferry to Clinton on Whidbey Island.

We were able to find a place to set up our tent on Whidbey through the site Hipcamp.

Whidbey has some great, low traffic roads, with beautiful views of the ocean! It felt like freedom rolling up and down those hills.

The next day we packed up camp and made our way north to Coupville to catch another short ferry ride to Port Townsend, a very quaint and Victorian style town. While the campsites were completely booked up in the nearby park, Fortwarden, we were able to talk with a park ranger that found us some overflow space.

For the final stretch we biked south to Bainbridge island before catching our final ferry over to downtown Seattle, and finally home!

Of course, we could not make it back home without a few battle scars. About 20 miles into our last day of cycling, we were speeding down a mountain highway. It was important to stay as close to the shoulder as there were quite a few turns and cars were speedy. Unfortunately, the shoulder was also lined with debri. Adriel straight on hit a pile of pinecones that sent him flying. I looked back to find him lying on his side and a good deal of blood on the bike itself.

We made sure to safely move off the road to assess the wound to his hand, elbow, and right hip. And this is why we always bring a first aid kit. Make sure to check out the packing list for first aid packing advice!
